The Home Tuition Connection –Right Support. Right Place. Right Time.
Connect2Education is a small team of teachers who provide one to one teaching in our Stokesley centre, online and as a bespoke outreach service for children and young people who are unable to access school. Whilst our quiet therapeutic setting is ideal for children who require a calm, consistent environment, there are some children who may benefit from a different starting point to build a bridge back to education: outreach provision can be the difference that makes the difference.
Our team are experienced teachers with a significant depth of knowledge about learning needs. This is why schools and local authorities choose us when they need specific skills to work in a home environment with children who may be anxious about education or struggling to even think about going back into a school environment.
Where do we work geographically?
We work throughout Redcar & Cleveland, Teesside and Hambleton District providing teaching to children and young people in their homes and schools. Our team can teach children from Reception age through to GCSE and Post 16. Connect2Education has provision partnerships with local authorities and work closely with LA SEN Teams specifically on teaching, assessment, and evidence-based provision mapping.
How does the process work?
Following a home visit and risk assessment, where we agree workspace and timings for each session/s we then set up a timetable of lessons to commence on a designated date. Our teachers are trained to work in a holistic capacity with parents and carers, we support clear communication and transparency about next steps. Parents and carers like this interaction as they feel part of a team working in support of their child; they understand the planning and the timeline for support.
Connect2Education believe that working in a home delivering tuition is a specialist area: to be invited into someone’s home where family members may be feeling scared and vulnerable, is a factor we take very seriously. Our team understand that emotions may be running high from both the young person and their parent or carers. Home is often the place that can feel the safest environment for children and young people – this is why it can be the starting point or foundation from which to build confidence and skills.
Integrated working with schools and local authorities
Local authorities choose Conect2Education because they know we have an evidence base for integrated working partnerships and that our team understand the process required for education and healthcare applications.
Real time information
Connect2Education teachers are a knowledgeable resource and a familiar link between school and home. As well as weekly updates, the team record ‘real time’ information about a child or young person’s current capacity for learning, assessments and any changes to key professionals. We also update schools with how parents/carers and students are managing with tuition in the home; this means that schools can respond quickly should they need to change any aspect of the provision.
Consistency
Building a good working relationship with a teacher is key. Each time we visit the home we are encouraging the child or young person to engage with their education and find ’ anchor points’ to support their learning; a consistent teacher means that the child or young person feels safe and comfortable in being themselves. We become part of their education experience, this is why it is so important that we make this a positive time with minimal stress and lots of praise for work completed.
Best Value
Connect2Education believe in value: our provision is cost effective, timely and effective with a track record of quality and excellence in outcomes including transition back into school and post 16 transitions. Our years of experience in SEND and specifically neuro diversity means that we contribute effectively to reports and Education & Health Care planning and provision mapping with successful outcomes. With our flexibility for booking and the facility to combine in centre, online and outreach provision, Connect2Education supports the move towards cost effective, evidenced based teaching which can make the difference in a successful return to full time education.
